I was looking to buy a eshopps sump from LFS, but also looking at building my own. thinking about a 55 gallon tank and buying the baffles. I have a questions. first what is a good place to buy baffles? is it more difficult to measure the amount of water in the sump if doing a DIY? what is a good way to keep it from over flowing if the power goes out?

I'm still torn between a marinland 90 or a 75 g tank. then would a 55 gallone sump be over kill on that. I do plan on having a red sea skimmer the 600 is what im looking at. I like the huge cup and the way to empty the cup. a lot easier than most other skimmers from what I found.

I got a 29gal sump for a 90gal display. Flooding shouldn't be a concern unless your return nozzles are very low below the waterline. There are baffle kits online but don't have experience with them, I just got some glass cut from a hardware store.

Just get glass cut. It’s not that expensive and will hold better than any of the pre fab stuff you can buy. Plus you only have to buy it once.
