DKH at 8 for carbon dosing.

I just started a new tank and I am using Red Sea's NOPOX. I have been reading in different places that if you are carbon dosing the DKH should read 8.0 instead of the more typical 8.4.
Does anyone know the reason behind that recommendation?

I'm not an expert, but from what I've understood a lower dkh with carbon dosing is aiming for a low nutrient system where you supplement your own nutrients whether it be red sea products or others.

I'm also not an expert, but I'm also not aiming for a ULNS. I carbon dose and my dKH routinely runs 10-10.6. I've run into serious issues when I let my dKH get below, say, 9-9.5. I suspect the issue was that I didn't have enough nutrients in the system (I wasn't intentionally dosing nitrates or phosphates).

Not expert, but some oceans are at8 DKH. Just a thought

What do you normally run your nutrients at with a dkh of 10?
