I am using full saturated kalk for dosing. Of course this raises pH quite a bit. I actually like this because I can some what keep my pH stable by dosing in the lights off hours. When lights are on pH is 8.35 so dosing at that time is not even an option. What I am finding out though, is at the moment my lights go out and the kalk starts to dose my DKH is around 6.5 and in the morning after dosing is complete for the night DKH is about 8.5. The tank consumes about 2 dkh a day. This just seems like a extreme daily fluctuation. The problem I have is I cannot dose during photo period as pH naturally raises at this time. At this same time the tank is consuming large amounts of dkh. I know dosing during non photo period is a common way to dose kalk, is my consumption of 2 dkh a photo period to large for using kalk? What have other experience with large dkh consumption using kalk? Is it time to go to 2 part? How would a fully packed 120 gallon SPS tank adjust to this change if that is what is needed?
