Hi folks.

I need some urge help.

I dosed my Mg and it was such a delayed reaction that 24 hours later it showed no swing. So I added more.

Now my Mg has shot up to 1440 and my dkH is 4.5.

What should I do?

I know you shouldn't make big swings but I need to correct it.

Should I do a water change or just leave it and let my Ca reactor bring it back up slowly? Won't it do it in parallel however?

Make sure that the test kit u are using is accurate then if it is and your Dkh is 4.5 don't try to bring it back to 7-11 or whatever u were using all at once. Try a water change 15-20% then check again, based on The new results then start bring it up no more than 1.0 DKH per day, make sure your pH don't get too high. It takes 2, 3 even four days to get it back to your usual number.

Mg is fine. How does adding mg effect your dkh?

As far as dkh? Add some baking soda to rise it to what u want (no more than 2dkh/day). And I think I would keep the cal reactor on.

I seen your other thread. Randy would be your best help, I'd stick with talking to him.

I read that adding Mg drops your dkh.

Anyway I retested and it seems it was an erroneous test earlier. Which is odd because I have a masters degree in science so I know about contamination and I retested with fresh samples and rinsed all my kit in RO.

ANYWAY I think I'm ok. Thanks for you help! I can sleep now over here in the UK. Night.
