Dkh over 100???? Help please!

It's these blasto those that I'm really worried about. Hopefully there will be a comeback when it's more stable

What did your alk start at before you added the buffer?

12 is still high, chalices do like it dirty at 9.
My blastos look the best at 8 give and take but not more than 8.5.

The alk may be high, but I doubt 105 dKH.

In a 100 gallon tank, you'd need to add 237 teaspoons of dry baking soda (more than 1.1 kilograms)

I assume you didn't do that?

The tank would also be white with precipitate.

Edit: I see you now measure 12 dKH. That is fine and is matching many salt mixes. Just let it decline on its own.

I don't know how much redsea paid this guy to rescind it's validity in the description but this is exactly what my test is doing bought yesterday. What a waste of 25 bucks

The color of the vile will NEVER match the card exactly. You are simply looking for the color change. Once the blue turns to an orange color the test is done (about 1:15 of the video) and you take your reading. People seem to be concerned with the color being exact which again it never will be.

Hahaha you didn't act the fool .. you panicked aliitle .. we all have /do .. when we see things we don't expect or sometimes don't fully understand .. thankfully we have so many people too fall back on for advice on here .. never feel stupid to ask a question ..

Yup. You put up the "Somethin' ain't right! Check me please!" Flag out. That's how we prevent problems from escalating. Stop. Think. Communicate and resolve the issue. :)

PS: I wish the colors matched better.

Im sorry you had this happen but , it is awesome you know your coral well enough you could smell foul just from looking. Can you believe some people and mixes run that high ! you need to get your calc up over 420 or the high dkh will do you no good and it wont lower fast calcium carbonate harndness KH or DKH is what determines your calcium uptake into the cell to low no calc will goto the coral to high and it will deplete mag and calc fast (and burn your blastos ) ph is diff .

I misread a test result recently and OD'd my tank on Ca. Randy came to the rescue and gently pointed out that my test results showed that the calcium was too high, not too low. We've all been there!
