Hi R2R. So my tank is fairly new. Red Sea 350, Skimz 167 skimmer, 2 AI 26 Hydras and plenty of water flow. Ammonia, nitrites at 0, Nitrates below 6 My first "coral", some mushroom rock has not thrived. It has shrunk and actually started to shed pieces of itself. The fish seem to be doing well as well as an anemone. My ph is barely 8.0 to 8.1 but my dkh is just 6.0 Could this be the reason the mushroom is not thriving. I haven't done any dosing but was considering dosing with baking soda initially...( I know it could lower pH for a bit.) My water changes have been consistent as well. Feedback please...

Mushrooms generally don't care much about dKH, as they don't have calcium carbonate skeletons like SPS and LPS corals do. That said, keeping the dKH above 7 is always a good idea. If I had to guess, I'd look into not enough phosphate, too much flow or too much light being the cause.

Thank you moved the rock lower, maybe will see some recovery..
