Do Acans split?

Recently my Acan has been what looks to be splitting. Feed every two days and boy can they eat. I hear they don’t split. Anyone know? Does this mean I am going to be a father again? Please help.

Usually, Micromussas bud extracalicularly at the edges of the colony, not bud intracalicularly.

I think they just grow new heads but as h th e new heads push out the others do look more bunched up and almost mad so that may be why it looks like it’s splitting?

They were fine 5 minutes ago. Puffed up beautifully. Fed the fish and they start doing this. It’s weird. Could they just be hungry ?

They do tend to contract when they taste food in the water.

It has to be they taste the food. They are super puffed up now. Never seen them like this. Thank you.

Nice healthy looking acans. They sure can eat a lot. I like to play “will they eat it?” which involves putting increasingly absurd amounts of food on them to see how much they can eat.

Still amazes me after all these years just how much they can gobble down

I am tempted to feed them again but maybe I should wait. Anyone feed every day?

I usually feed mine every 2-3 days. At least once a week with meaty food like shrimp/reef frenzy, but also benereef/reefroids throughout the week when I target feed gorgonians.

I’d be curious to hear how often others feed theirs and what they like to feed.

I’d say my Acans and Micromussa get food almost every day. Some times target feeding of mysis or oyster feast. Sometimes it’s catching a fish pellet that drifted into its tentacles.

These corals are amazing! Those pink/purple/green are so nice.
