Do Acros regrow polyp tentacles?

So I got a Citron Goby, advertised as reef safe, that after additional research means “reef safe except for SPS”, which in my humble opinion is one heck of a caveat…

See below for before and after on my purple acro…

I fished the little blighter out last night while it was sleeping, and is currently in an isolation box while I work out what to do with it - looks like it’s going to be a sump fish…

Initial damage assessment is that all but two polyps on this acro seem to have been nipped - do they grow back or is this a likely catastrophic injury?

They might just be retracted. Hopefully, they'll come back out once they think the coast is clear!

Just looks retracted.. they will come back with time.. those fish are known to kill the center of sps colonies as they live inside them and do damage..

Are they OK with larger colonies - or does the center getting killed wipe out the rest also?

It’s not healthy I know that much… I’d imagine the corals could just stn from the inside out. My buddy had a couple in his old 300 gallon and they kept killing inside of all his old colonies and he could never catch them! He finally broke the colonies off while there inside and pulled them from the tank and dumped them upside down to get the fish out and never got them again.. his colonies recovered over time… I’m not sure if one ever died from the fish or not but they were doing some damage for sure!

Dunno if others have tried this for smaller fish evictions - but to get this one out I waited until it was sleeping then primed a 1” pvc tube to siphon, then kept it closed with my thumb over the open end while lowering the end in the tank down until it was just above the fish - then released my thumb and woosh the little bugger gets vacuumed right out into a 5 gallon bucket.

Good thinking! I’m always scared my clowns are gonna go for a ride during water changes lol… I have to watch them at all times cause they’re dumb and curios haha..
