Has anyone used one? Do they work if I'm gone a few days? or does anyone have any other ideas if I can't get someone to stop by?

I use the AFS by apex and Very reliable, same portions distributed each feeding and easy to fill.
I had the eheim units and also nothing but praise and a nice digital display that's easy to program.

I use two Eheim Everyday Feeders when I go on vacation....filled with flake food. They work great!

I feed powder(Reef Roids) , so not many options, for feeders. Went with one model of Eheim, didn't work with powders, had to buy China model and no issues. I would prefer a quality feeder, just none I know that do powder

eheim also has a dual head auto feeder now. You can feed two different foods out of one feeder. I haven't gotten one yet but I plan on it in the near future

I have also used this model successfully with mini pellets.

is there a food that sinks more than others? So my Goby gets some too

do you think enough food will sink so my Goby gets some too?

Other than the fish not seeing you walk up to the tank, it isn't much different than you dropping food into the tank. When you feed mini pellets right now does any sink so your goby can get some?

A mix of pellets and flakes would work great....pellets sink.

The other consideration is a feeding ring. This holds the flakes long enough to either be eaten or sink before getting sucked up by your overflow. I make my own with a piece of tubing, dowel and suction cups, but you can also purchase them:

I usually hold it under the water before releasing the food so its saturated enough to sink and they all get some. Just the fingertips.

What do people do for tanks with mesh tops (my wrasse would likely carpet surf going for the feeder)!
