Backstory, My first purple tip green BTA wandered around the tank until it settled near my purple digi. The top edge of its tentacles rested against the very back of the Digi colony. At night time the anemone wood tuck up And you could see the Digi colony, At first it was just white with the Flecks of purple like it would recover. after a few days it was grey like cement with white on the border of the good flesh. So I thought the anemone just landed in the wrong place and happened to kill part of my Colony, no big deal. Over time the anemone has crept higher and higher up the colony and slowly killed more than half of it at this point. I thought maybe it was just stretching for more light so I've let it go. A while back it had split. The clone wandered around the tank mostly around the upper border of the glass until it settled on top of my Hollywood stunner chalice. and again it has slowly stretched sideways killing a portion of the stunner. Recently one of my RBTA started stretching and touching my trumpet coral. Both the nem and the trumpet have been in the same place for a couple of months at least. They started to touch a short while ago and since then my RBTA has slowly Crept into the trumpet and started killing heads. I removed that and anemone and put it in my fuge. Could be coincidence but it started me thinking that these anemones seem to enjoy killing the coral for whatever reason.

Full disclosure,My tank is fairly loaded and short on real estate. But they did not have to go into the coral by any stretch and seems to choose to do it. Also it was not always toward the light so I have ruled that out has a reason. Anybody have a similar experience or thoughts on the subject?

Funny how something similar happened to me recently, but I removed him before it did any harm to my other coral. Agree with you on the light part since that coral is at the bottom of my tank, far left corner. I highly doubt they eat corals just compete for location maybe?

What type of coral is it?

BTA, the annoying ones that travel all over your tank and end up stuck in your circulation pump lol
In the years I have had these they only travel when they are not happy.
And no they don't eat coral just stings them

I'm pretty surprised at the types of corals that do not hurt this anemone. Galaxia, chalice. Both stinging corals with sweepers. Tough nems!

I think you may have misunderstood. The foot of the anemone is not moving it is stretching its tentacles into the coral and killing it. Leaning its oral disc far to one side
