I had/have 4 Ocellaris Clown Fish (2 "regular" and 2 black and white). Recently (12/10) I added two ORA Captive-Bred Extreme Snow Onyx Percula Clownfish (Bonded Pair) from LADD. Just got back from vacation, everything in the tank appears to be well; with one exception. I cannot locate the 4 Ocellaris Clown fish. Don't see any "bodies".

Other fish:
Desjardi Sailfin Tang
Royal Gramma Basslet
Goby Firefish
Magnificent Rabbitfish
Timor wrasse
Captive-Bred Extreme Snow Onyx Percula Clownfish (Bonded Pair)
Bimaculatus Anthias (Trio)

No they really do not hide in my experience. A mature female clown may not have tolerated any clown that was of female gender. Another possibility is that unless you QT the new clowns they introduced Velvet or Brooklynella which wiped out the existing clowns. In a 180 gallon tank I would have thought there would be enough territories for multiple clown but some clowns get really aggressive.

How big is the tank? Clownfish do not do well in groups they will fight to death to pair up. And once they are a mated pair they're gonna be the boss of the tank and kill other clownfish u add.

It's a 180g tank. So you are saying that adding the bonded pair of ORA Captive-Bred Extreme Snow Onyx Percula Clownfish may have been a death knoll for the other fish which were not bonded?

Can I add another pair of bonded clownfish?

I have the first pair of clowns that I've owned out of four different species that will actually hide in rocks, A. bicinctus, it's a very unusual behavior for most clownfish species in my experience.

I would say your clowns are dead, sorry.

Right. And u can't add another pair of clowns because 180g tank is still to small for them to get their own territory, I mean u can try and add another pair and see what's gonna happen but I do not recommend it. You'll need like 300+ gallons tank to house multiple pair of clowns.

Awww, sorry to hear. Little buggers can be quite territorial, but really surprised in that size tank that there would have been such an issue. I guess you have scoured the tank for them off in a corner or something?

I have looked all around for them (live or dead). Surprised I haven't found the bodies up against the power head. I was gone for four days.

Have you checked your overflows and sump? Every clown we have lost, has jumped right through the egg crate on top of the tank or into the overflow. If they jump out, the cat enjoys them for midnight snack. However, sometimes they get lucky and end up in the refugium.

180 is really not all that large of a tank for a fish, or pair, bent on doing bad things. Do check your overflows though, always ended up fishing clowns out. Oh, and 4 days is more than enough time for all evidence to be gone.
