Hey,

So I would really like to get a pair of clownfish but I fear that they may become aggressive once they get larger/nature, is these a reasonable fear or is it highly unlikely. The tank they would be going in is a 30g cube with a Gold Assessor and a Green Mandarin. As for the clowns I am not 100% sure which I would get but they would not be maroons or anything close to them. I was thinking maybe a pair of gladiator clowns

Yes. I have to use my net to block off the pair in my 40. The female will come up and bite and has drawn blood. I am more worried being in her tank then I am in my scorp tanks. She is less predictable!

Draws blood? That fish is hardcore! My anemone tank I want to set-up will have a yellow striped maroon clown. I have read most maroon clownfish can be very aggressive.

Our female Tomato Clown can be very aggressive. She will charge my hand and bite it if you do something she does not approve off. She is totally peaceful with her tank mates though.

I had a large Tomato Clown in my old 200. It would attack my hand/arm also when I was working inside the tank. It liked the underside of my wrist and yes, it also drew blood every now and then. That was in the early 80s and it was the last clownfish I ever owned. Hated that fish.

I dunno, just from the name, I would think a fsh called a Gladiator Clown would likely not be all that docile. :) Good luck!

They can get that way, but they're so cute I just wear gloves and keep them anyway.

Yes they can be aggressive. True story, bit my finger off. Straight cut...

LOl seriously they can be weird though, mine are bipolar.. Clowns are weird fish..

So they will get aggressive....well I guess no clowns for my tank.

I've dived all over the world and the only time I've ever been attacked and chased by a fish, was in Indonesia. A tomato clown would not leave me alone. He kept pecking at my mask and wouldn't go away. I backed off nearly 50 yards and finally, I had to just go to the surface because I didn't want to keep swiping at him and actually hurt him. We saw sharks and many aggressive triggers and we all laughed that afternoon because of this stupid Tomato clown.

My pair have never bothered me for past year I have had them, then I guess the male grew a pair because this past weekend he thought my hand was lunch when I was cleaning the glass. And my kids thought it was hilarious every time he took a swipe at me and I said ouch! Lol
They are crazy.... Would you bite the hand that feeds you and is about 50 times your size??? Haha

Our Black female clown Is the aggressor of the pr, go anywhere near her area and she'll come after me. You need to wear gloves to
try and fool them, but the previous pr would nip at my arm where the glove would not cover

bite the hand that feeds you

clowns can be aggressive no doubt. Some types tend to be more aggressive like maroons, tomato, cinnamon, and clarkiis. Ocellaris and perculas tend to be a little more peaceful. I have a pair of black and white ocellaris and the female is very aggressive toward me when my hand is in the tank. They tend to stay in the lower corner by their host anemone and they are relatively peaceful with their tanks mates except when a fish goes into their corner :) I love clowns. I can't imagine having a tank without a pair.
