Do clownfish eggs require care by the clownfish until they hatch?

I don't think this is the case as so many videos show eggs being removed and placed into a hatching tank without the parents.

I scrapped algae off the back wall of a tank that had clownfish eggs. I got a nice lose roll of algae with the eggs still attached inside.

The eggs appear white and the eyes are clearly visible. But I think they should have hatched by now as it has been 3 weeks since they first appeared.

How can I tell if the eggs are viable?

That doesn't sound right. I wonder if it was an issue with oxygen deprivation. The clownfish breeding male typically fans the eggs and so they may have had development issues. I wouldn't be surprised if the developing clownfish are dead or not viable.

Yes, they have been laying eggs for a year. Up until now, I didn't pay much attention as I wasn't prepared to raise fry. But now I am.

So it would appear that the presence of the male is required.
