Hello. I have a 34 gal cubish tank (the red sea max C 130). I currently have corals, 9 snails, and 2 clowns. 1 of the clown is the regular common clown and the other one is a snow onyx. Im really intrigued by sexy shrimp and i want to get one or two however ive read that clowns do attack them. Is this true? Anyone with any first-hand experience when it comes to clowns and sexies? Thanks.

Clowns are pretty weird and unpredictable but I have never heard of them attacking anything except other clowns. I do have a sexy shrimp and 2 clowns in my tank btw

The only time the clown went after them is when they tried to go in the anemone.

Sexy shrimp are extremely fast and a clown won’t harm/catch them. A wrasse could.

Perfect! Thanks everyone for the input. Ill be getting 2 of these beautiful shrimp as soon as i can.
Another question, is it OK if i have 2 sexies, 1 peppermint/fire and 1 cleaner shrimp in the same 30 gal tank? thanks!

Depends how sexy were talking about !!

On a real note, clowns rarely if ever go after or even consider shrimp.

Curious to hear peoples thoughts and experiences. Do those of you who have both also have anemones? I've seen a few sources say that since both host anemones their tend to be conflicts over the anemone i.e. the clown gets a big sexy lunch when the shrimp trespass.

Rule of thumb; if its not a specialized diet, it will eat anything that fits in its mouth and looks like food.

Clowns are no exception. I had a banggai cardinal eat one of my sexy shrimp, I see no reason why a clown couldn't. If anything clowns are easier to provoke if the shrimp happens to share the same host as them.

You could try adding them when the lights are out and the clowns are asleep, then they might not recognize them as food, but if these are full grown clowns or the clowns get bigger its a chance.
