Do coral only tanks require water changes?

I've always wondered, other than top offs do they need water changes? There would be no fish to give off nitrates from waste, and if the tank is already cycled then there would be no ammonia or nitrites.

We only dose magnesium, calcium, and buffer; trace elements are all those other salts that we don't dose, water changes help replenish those.

In addition, with all the dosing we do to maintain corals, certain elements build-up in the water. Water changes help remove those elements.
 
Are you going to be feeding the corals? Without fish waste I have heard you can actually starve corals..
