do corals on sand bed capable to get rid sand on them ?

Can a coral get rid of this sand by them self?
I have canary wrasse that always dig to sand to go to sleep, sometimes searching for worm.
Or should I turkey baster the coarse sand on coral ?

at first time im still do turkey baster to get rid of that sand, but im thinking again, if the coral have capability or not.
i worry if turkey baster every day, it will cause more harm then let them try to get rid by themself.

It depends on the species. Try sprinkling some on the corals in question and watch what happens over an hour or so. If most of the sand is still there it's probably a good idea to swish any off if noticed.

The plate coral, providing it's healthy, can probably dig it's way out if a bunch of sand is dumped on it. The doughnut coral will deal with a small amount but a lot is not good.
