Hello. I’m new to this hobby and a little over a month into cycling my tank. When I purchased my live rock, it came with a coral hitchhiker (Pavona maybe?). It seems to be growing and doing well, but I don’t know much about coral yet.

While checking out my tank, I noticed this hanging off of the coral. It seemed connected to a “mouth” part of the coral.

Should I be concerned or do coral just poop?

(And I don’t know how to upload a video yet so I uploaded it to YouTube. [emoji28] Here’s the link and a screenshot.)

Yes corals poop but doesn't generally look like that.... #reefsquad

Those look like eggs. My guess, is that it's discharging eggs prematurely due to stress of being in a new tank.

Strange! When do they normally do eggs?
Hopefully it not too stressed. The capsule was gone by morning. I would hate to kill off a coral!
