Good evening all. We came home today and our sand sifting goby seemed normal at first.

He was cruising around the tank and was eating as we fed the other fish.

But all of a sudden he rolled over on his side and was not moving.

I turned him upright and he appears to have had a seizure. He was disoriented at first but then is swimming around - very slowly - and is sifting sand.

But he’s not as active as usual.

All the other fish are totally normal. We just had the system serviced yesterday.

Anyone have any idea what happened?

I would imagine anything with a nervous system could have one.

Any type of physiological malady that can affect us can hit them too.
Heart attack, stroke, etc.

As fish age they get especially perplexing, one day perfectly happy at 10yo, the next heavily breathing on the tank floor.

I had an Oscar that swam on her side and had seizures daily for a couple years after the AC in my house crapped out during a heat wave. Her water was 95f+ for a at least 3 days and possibly as long as a week.
When she wasn't actively eating she just kinda floated 1/2 dead... breathing heavily and several times a day start madly twitching and swimming into the glass or gravel.
I have no idea how she lived so long.
