Just as the title says. I want a go by and shrimp pair in my tank. I have about a half inch of 1.5 - 1mm sand for the looks. I have loads of caves tho could they live in that? I don't really want to add extra sand and take the whole rock work down and move all of my corals I like the look of it just now. So could they live In the rock work holes? Or do they NEED a deep sand bed? Also I have a blood red shrimp, will the pistol shrimp harm it? I have a Boxer crab in there too will they fight as mine likes to ambush, he hasn't touched any hermits or anything yet tho. Will he be okay with my coral beauty and clown pair? There's plenty of open water and rock work. Tank is a 60gall cube. All perams are constant and perfect every week. Thanks.

The pairs need sand. If there is not enough they will move it to make a cave under a rock. If there is some way to add more around 1 rock that might work rather than making the whole tank deeper

Thanks, so if I added a half pound or so at the base of one of the caves it should be okay? Do u recommend any good and unusual looking pairs?

You can pair almost any shrimpgoby with a tiger pistol or Randall’s pistol shrimp. I prefer the tiger pistol (due to the pandemic they have become hard to find) because he’s constantly on the move shoveling sand and keeping the burrow clean. He’s quite entertaining to watch.

That should work. A cup = 1/2 lb maybe.
I would search online for pistol shrimp goby pairs and see what you like and others have found on forums and images

Oh man they are good lookin shrimp lol, I'm deffinetly getting one, do u think hell get along with my blood red shrimp and especially my boxer crab?

Before you get them make sure you have all your frags moved out of their way because they will make entrances with them and pull them down in their home. Mine got a long well with my pair of cleaner shrimps but I'm not so sure about the boxer crab since my shrimp kills any hermits it finds near its cave

I suppose it should be OK because he stays in a tiny crevices in the rock waiting for anything to pass buy so if they moved to the other side of the tank they should be good.

Maybe but you can't guarantee that it will be fine as the shrimp and goby could move right near its home or they may not even pair at all. The crab will probably be fine I'm just saying from my experiences with them and crabs

Thanks Alot buddy.

You may want to get a small amount of coral rubble too, for them to use, as ive heard they need this to make their dens sturdy to prevent it collapsing in

I think they should be able to get along. However I can’t guarantee that. As posted earlier small hermit crab shells will help them fortify their burrows.
