1) I fed this guy a piece of scallop (as usual) and within a few hours he shrunk up. Normally, if he isn't hungry, he simply leans over and drops it...

2) I run my tank at a pH of 8.53 - 8.6 and after a couple days of no Alk dosing (I set something up wrong with my new doser) my Alk took a tumble but my pH didn't drop too drastically. Now that the regular scheduled dosing is back, my pH has been 8.7 - 8.9. I only mention this because everyting in the tank is looking great but not this Nem.

3) My ammonia is normally zero. But its currently .25. I'm not sure if its because of this guy falling apart. Either way, high pH mixed with ammonia isn't a great combo, from what I understand.

Anyway, I've had this dude for SEVEN YEARS and he is one of the only things that survive "the great crash of 2017." Hes built like a rock but took a turn for the worse so quickly, I worry its his time to go. Outside the obvious (get my pH back to 5.5 and get rid of the ammonia) I'm curious if you guys have any thoughts. Is it time to just flush the poor thing?

I wouldn't flush it unless it's detaching and wont stick to anything. It looks deflated for sure, but seems to still be stuck pretty well. There's still a chance it could bounce back.

Don’t feed, don’t dose (your tank at least) and just monitor for a bit.

Oh there is no way I'd feed him looking like this lol

And I can't stop dosing the tank. Lots of other animals (corals) I have to consider.

Give him a chance. I have seen recoveries look this bad to start.

I wouldnt stop dosing. I'm sure you already know this, but you want to maintain consistency. The params that are in check are good to go. The ones that are not in check should be slowly brought within acceptable ranges.

I find that anemones, especially Haddoni, Gigantea and Magnifica does not like shell fish. Every time I feed they oyster or steamer clams, they would shrink up. I have not feed them scallops yet, and will not try to do this. Fish, shrimp and aquids are fine with me.

He normally eats it up. He did this time as well so I'm assuming its the water parameters. After 7 years I can't imagine him suddenly closing up because of the same food hes been eating. I usually jumbo shrimp or scallop. Not really much beyond that.
