Hey all

I'm just going through with desining my sump at the moment but i'm a bit worried I don't have enough space for my equipment

the display size is just under 400gal

the sump is 6.2ft long 1.6ft wide 1.5 high
the sections i have is in order:

1- 12" roller matt DIY (custom)
2- 8" marine pure section
3- 27" refugium also able to be sectioned to have a "time out section"
4- 12" 2x skimmers, calcium reactor, carbon reactor
5- 12" pumps

so do you guys think i have a big enough area in section 4 or should i lose some of the space in section 3 to make it larger and by how much?
also keeping in mind it is all 20" wide

Thanks in advance for you input!

:)

If you can make it all fit without disrupting whatever flow you are going for through said sump, you’re probably fine.

I’m guessing the double skimmers is for redundancy/maybe saving space and cost? (Not that your reason is important. If it works for your system, it works)

Yeah I would take the two skimmers out And go for the max spec duo protein skimmer it’s rated for that size of a display and super small

I do like the idea of less cleaning (who doesn't) the max spec duo is only rated for a 300gal with a light bio load (my eventual load will be heavy) so really I would need 2 of those
I've been told I'm better to go with 2 skimmers for redundancy and the price is not much different.
The other option I've been looking at is diy a skimmer, someone posted a thread about it last week and the responses were that there is quite a few people who have made their own skimmers and been using them with success for years
The amount of flow im looking at having through my sump is around 4000gal/ph (10x turnover)
