I just received a few fish last week 1 Naso Tang and 1 Blue Tang 1 two spot Kole. They are in a 40B for observation. I have a HOB filter that I ran on my main system for a couple weeks to get some bacteria and there is an airstone and some live rock that I will remove if medicating is required.just to be sure there oxygen along with a small powerhead. They have been eating LRS frozen and Nori. I am not a fan of medicating just to do it but if required I will do so. This is why I have them in the 40B. They have looked fine so far but just tonight I noticed the Naso and the blue about 12" away from the powerhead swimming at it. Not a lot and not continuous but they were definitely swimming in the current. I have read on R2R about fish with Velvet swimming at powerheads. There are no spots and they appear to be fine but this behavior has me concerned?
I don't have pics because it was late this evening when I notice the behavior but I can get some tomorrow.

Any opinions should I just continue to observe or do I need to start treatment?

tank 40B
salt 34.5
temp 78
ammonia 0
PH 8.12-8.2 Swings during the day and night

Pictures are worth a thousand words.

I will get some tomorrow but at this time I see nothing that looks out of the ordinary they both have good color and nice body shape.
Generally an indicator of velvet.

Many tangs are ich/velvet magnets. I would quarantine chemoprophylactically tbh.

I actually had read that in one of your posts which is what has me concerned. Just try to decide if I should immediately start treatment or observe and wait for clear indication?
What would work as a precaution and is reef safe is Polyp Lab MEDIC. Works very well. You want to treat for 10 days

I did go to local fish store today and bought Rally Pro and Coppersafe. When I got home I still think the fish look good Blue tang looks great Naso has some discoloration but doesn’t look like inch or velvet from the research I’ve done. I think I was just a little paranoid because it looked like they were swimming in the powerhead flow. I could not find the Polyp lab medic
Just curious if I proactively dosed the Ruby Rally pro and then something more did develop can I also dose Coppersafe. The Naso does have it is sure hard to get good pics of moving fish

Tonight the fish are still eating Nori and seem to be in good health. No white spots. No heavy breathing. I think for now I will just continue to observe and make sure they continue to look good.
