Do I have the right sump setup

Hello I have questions all the time. I am wondering if you could all look at the picture of my sump and tell me what i should add or change..... or if this setup is good.

I would start with a cleaning and remove that rusted hose strap.

I second that.. I would remove that rusty hose clamp and clean it really well. Otherwise if it's filtering and skimming id leave it be.

Yeah I agree I will remove the clamp but it really doesn't affect anything it isn't in any water. I have changed them at least once a month. The salt destroys the clamps in know time. I am wondering if there is something I am missing or something I can add to make it better.

That would be cool I will look into getting those. That would solve that problem.

One thing you could add would be a refugium, but it doesn't look like you have enough room.

I have heard of people having bio balls and other things so I wanted to find out what kind of setup is recommended by some of you or if this setup is ok.

Or you could toss in bio balls in a media bag and that way you could remove it if needed. I mean this is a loaded question, there’s a million ways to successfully set up a sump. You could toss in live rock also or no media. The best thing is to clean everything and make sure there is no metal if possible, organize... etc.

walk us through the setup and everything that’s in the sump, that way we have a better understanding of exactly how the water enters, travels and then exits

I have a picture at the top, the water flows down and goes through my socks. Then into another space and with my protein skimmer and then it goes into another space that sends it back into the tank.

When are you replacing/cleaning your socks?

When they start to plug up I wash them in hot water and replace them.

nothing more is really needed except a better maintenance schedule
