I'm cleaning out the skimmer section today, needs it for sure. So I was really hoping I could just clean the pump & put the thing back in there! . I gotta go the the store for vinegar break out a 5 gl bucket etc& fill it up etc.
At least it's well broke in ! right?
I actually replaced that same model due to the difficulty in cleaning the body....which is nearly impossible to clean. I ended up going with one that comes apart at the base.
YA what Waters says ! It's too difficult to clean ! LOL Also I have been thinking about some way to shield it from the light. I was thinking about a black plastic flower pot cut to size maybe? Any ideas?
Ok so I got my hand in there & a lot just came away from the wall. I didn't soak like a should have . I promise I'll do it next time !
If you have a tote the skimmer can fit place the skimmer in it. Then fill with a 1:1 ratio water:vinegar. The skimmer will foam well and the action and acid will clean the skimmer. Rinse when done. You can use a soft brush after it's been running in the vinegar for awhile to help knock off the algae Calcium deposits.
Are you keeping some jaw breaking SPS in that skimmer?. It seems like you do have some in there. I would suggest to move the SPS to the display and remove the MH lighting to some where else
