Pro's? Too many to list.
Con's? Once you have one you will wonder how you ever did without it.

I went years without one. There is so much you can do with it. Once you have it setup you will find that it makes all sorts of task easier. Water changes, light programming etc. not to mention having the ability to monitor your tank from anywhere. As mentioned above if you get one you will not want to setup a tank without it.

May I ask why you prefer this too the apex ... just curious!!!

Just appears to be a cleaner system to me.
I like the look better, and I don't really like having several screens.
I'm sure there are ways around that with the apex.

Also, the quality of German made products has really astounded me at times.

I can't give you a personal experience yet since I'm just inbound the process of setting my system up! But, several months ago, I was researching controllers like crazy. My searching resulted in me finding no complaints Abbott the GHL systems and do many problems with the Apex... so, I ordered the GHL Profilux 4 system... still in the box right now, lol. But, one thing I liked was that its almost all in one controller... no need for all those additional modules that Apex ends up making you buy to do the same thing. Plus, those already using the GHL who have also used Apex in the past prefer the GHL system. Another plus is the ease of usr of programming the GHL which uses drop down menus where Apex requires actual writing lines of code. The GHL cones with the 4 major probes as well. One downside I see array though is the GHL only had 6 outlets on their power bar where I believe Apex has 8. Definitely worth the time to look into the GHL system.

I just bought the new apex controller and while setup was not exactly easy it required no code. Further it does come with the 4 major probes counter to what Idoc said. I also enjoy the ability to add the extra modules, I'm running the doser which is extremely well made and runs with no noise and is accurate. All in all I can't imagine going back to not having the apex after getting it running smoothly.

Yeah that. All of that. Totally what I meant to say.;Joyful

I went back and forth about getting the apex controller and I can definitely say that I am glad I got it. It has saved me from disaster on several occasions. Also, I recently went on vacation for a week and used the app to closely monitor my tank and make adjustments as needed. When I came back after a weeks long vacation, everything was good to go. I was able to adjust feedings, check my ato and keep an eye on my ph, salinity, etc.. there is just so much you can do with the apex and in my opinion, worth every penny.

Neptune apex is made just a few Miles from Where i live in Holland :D ( just found out )
