Do I need a skimmer for a reef tank?

I'm new to the saltwater side and I'm wondering if I need to get a skimmer for a softie and lps tank. And if so, what kind/brand/size should I get?
Tank plan info:
20g high aqueon standard glass tank
Stocking:
ocellaris clownfish
firefish
white banded possum wrasse
tail spot blenny
randall's goby
pistol shrimp

I have a 60gal cube tank that is a reef and I personally don’t run a skimmer on it. The coral tend to keep it clean enough. I have one running on my 90 gal but that’s just mostly fish so there isn’t really anything helping the water. Really it comes down to personal preference. One thing good about skimmers though is they do help with the oxygen/gas exchange in the tank but it’s not necessarily needed depending on other filtration surface agitation corals etc

In my experience soft and LPS grow fine without a skimmer. I would oversize the regular filter tho, a Tidal 55 would work great on a 20 gallon.

is it ok? Sure. I’d you like clear water and less maintenance then yes

A skimmer is just another tool to help with nutrient control (also has some positive side effects as stated). If your nutrients are in line, then it isn't required. I personally would run one if only to provide water oxygenation.
