Hey all,

I recently purchased a 210-gallon Aqueon aquarium. This aquarium has two returns and overflows. The first overflow is 600 GPH, while the second is 400 GPH. I have one Eheim 1262 (900GPH) return pump. So do I need a second return pump? If I need an additional pump, I would appreciate some recommendations.

hi, i would say yes ,but pick up a dc pump large enough to handle both ,they are controllable, save your eheim for later applications ,sure there will be :)

Sorry guys I wish I could edit my thread. After doing some reading, I found out that a 1000 GPH overflow on a 210-gallon is pathetic. I made the company exchange the tank before they delivered it for a few reasons, but primarily since it only has a 1000 GPH overflow, which won't allow for a high turnover rate. So instead I got a 180g standard untampered Marineland aquarium with a 20" Synergy Reef Overflow (2500 GPH). After accounting for approximately 10 ft of head pressure with a uv sterilizer, I think the Jebao DDCP-20000 would be just right at the lowest setting. What do you guys think?

sounds good ,can always kick it up a notch if needed :)

I run a 1200 gph pump on my 80 gallon system if that gives you any security and honestly some times I wish I had a little more. I run a smaller 250 gph pump inside my sump to turn more water over to mix my dosing. Idk if it really does anything but I feel like it dilutes my dosing and keeps me from frying my nems. Maybe I’m just paranoid

Yeah I think turn-over rates are a big deal, I want at least 10x turn-over rate to skim the crap as much as possible. We have so many factors to account for in this hobby and just as much limitations due to our equipment.

dcp-20000 good choice, good pump, affordable, would if in budget get 2 ,will have back up ,and parts for 2nd, if 1st was to fail, some run for years no probs, some lose power after time ,thus price ;)

You are a mind reader. I was debating whether I should get two, but decided I can't I'm already well over my budget. But at least I have the eheim as a temporary back-up until I get a replacement if something happens.

I run an over sized skimmer
