Hi,

My tank is 3 months old(Fluval 13.5G), and has one clownfish and I have just added corals(Wild Zoas, Green Branching Hammer, Encrusting Montipora, Magician Zoanthid).

I was wondering if I should use additives for the water? It would be useful as a beginner if there was a single all-in-one additive just to keep things simple for me to start with.

Any advice greatly appreciated!

You only really add things when you’ve tested to see if they are required, for example alkalinity calcium and magnesium as the basics

You can also add trace elements, but at 3 months old you probably don’t need these as simple water changes should be enough

When you need to start adding elements, maybe something like Red Sea ABC+ skeletal elements should be ok

As said, water changes will take care of any depletion for a while. The hammer and monti are the only ones that are really pulling alkalinity + calcium and they are small right now. When you tank gets more full you’ll need to observe. In the near future, you could benefit from a little coral food.
