Do I need new lights?

Ya, I havent heard anything about the new light? whats the deal MOM!

You have to have a functional camera to take pictures, then you have to know how to load pictures up on photobucket, then you have to know how to post a link....

And uh, I got a Tunze 6100 off of reefcentral and bought a "rock" for it at the MACNA show from the Tunze dealer (they like when they don't have to carry things home....). I tried to fit it into the tank and I'm going to have to move rock to do it. You all can make suggestions at the meeting for where it should go..... I can count on you all for ideas, huh....

to bad I had two of the tunze rocks I could have sold you cheap! I dont believe you have said anything yet about the light? is it installed? do you like the color?

I am beating my husband over the head as we speak to try and get him to help me put it up. Do you have the big rocks or the small Tunze rocks? Why are men so difficult!?!??

OK, the new light looks great. I did a major renovation and got the tunzi rock and one 6100 in near the bottom of the tank. I tested it, made sure it worked and then stacked all the rock back up. The whole time I was smelling something burning. The ballasts? Warm, but not smelly. The new pump ballast whatever thing? No, not that. The light fixture, very warm, but not that. Went back to moving stuff around. Finally figured out what the smell was. My braces over the tank. They both got a little warm and are bowed up some. I'd say the light is a bit too close. It's about 5 inches off the top of the tank. I've got the 4MH, so the ends of the inside lights are just a bit over the braces. Can I cover them with something to reflect the heat, such as aluminum foil, or do I need to move my light up? That thing is HOT.

And I don't know if I can fit another Tunzi rock in the tank without another major renovation. I like the way they look. Maybe I can put it in the middle of the rocks on the other side and not at the bottom.....

A three bulb hqi would have been the way to go, But I dygress. If the option was there to send the light back you need to. I dont see any advantage to the 4 bulb fixture for you. only disadvantages

Bryan you haven't learned with susan if you want her to get the three bulb system.... tell her to get the four bulb fixture :)

She is a woman and will never listen to us... you'll learn.

HEHE! I know, you are always right man! I still hold out hope the women will listen sometime. I bet you money this financial crisis is a womens fault! LOL! Before I get attacked that was a joke, We all know it was the democrats! LOL! That was also a joke for all you democrats out there!

Well, maybe it's a 2 light system, not a 4. 2 of the lights (1 on 1 ballast and the other on the other box (2 MH ballasts per ballast box) only come on sometimes. I think I'm jinxed. I've got a friend at work who claims the "Golder syndroms" (her name is Golder) that anything computerized around her will fail if given the slightest chance. I think I'm that way with aquarium equipment..... Alas, the skimmer is still working (no power blinks lately).
Susan

why dont you make a list and we can adress things at the meeting

Lights are working fine now. Bryan, how much do you want for your Tunze rock? I'm not sure I could fit it into my tank without a major renovation. I thought about just wedging the 6100 between 2 rocks in the opposite corner from the other one so I'll get circular flow. I've got a dead zone (not too dead, but not great flow) on the "back side" of my tank. I think that everything likes the better lighting.....
Susan

I have one if bryan doesn't reply.

I'll sell you mine for 50$, would be cheaper but I learned my lesson with the yuma :).

HEHE! Mine is new and I paid $50 a piece for them from a guy on RC who never used them. I would like to get my money back. So $50 each. I will bring them to the meeting either way and you can see if you want one or both.

I don't think that I could fit both. Bring one and let me look at them. Brandon, do you have the big rocks or the little rocks to fit the smaller pumps. I wouldn't mind seeing a smaller rock. And bring them anyway. Maybe somebody else would want them.

And Bryan, why aren't you planning to use them in the new big tank build?
Mom

My new tank is drilled for closed loop, so no internal pumps. But I bought them for my new tank before I decided to drill it

Oh, I forgot. That would be so nice. Maybe I'll get a different tank in another decade or so.....
Susan

by that I guess you mean in your after life right? HEHE! sorry it was to easy

she did leave herself open but even i thought that was a little cold lol so i take it the new lights are working out great for you
