Ran a search, couldn't find a similar topic.
Here's the scoop.
New all in one tank going to be a zoa/paly frag (only) tank.
No sand, no live rock.
Plastic 'eggcrate' on PVC legs.
Biomedia is ceramic, use it in all my tanks, love it (Marinepure Ceramic Biomedia Plate).
Some of above ceramic will come from an established tank.
5g of water will come from established tank, remaining 8g will be fresh mixed.

So, with nothing to die off, and some established media, does this require any type of cycle?

I would imagine you will have a mini cycle but nothing major. I would still bet you'll have some diatoms or an algae outbreak for a week or two. But if I were in your shoes i'd still wait a couple weeks.

I just started a 105 with a Marine Pure block that I seeded in my other reef for a few weeks. I did use some old rocks and had a bit of die off, but my cycle was only about 5 days long.

Thanks guys. I'll give it a week and see how it goes.
