Do I need to cycle this first?

So I have a established tank that is 20g and has a 35 gallon sump I will be tying a 40g breeder tank to the system 40g breeder will be only filled with egg crate for frags. Will I need to cycle this 40g breeder tank before opening the vavle into the other system?

Don’t be surprised when the added tank gets the new tank uglies for a bit. It’s happened on each frag tank I’ve added into my system. They were much shorter cycles, and not as severe as when a new system is brought online.
