Hello

Relatively new to corals and have a lighting question.

I have a 28 gallon jbj nano with an aquamaxx hob skimmer and a reef radiance 132W led light fixture. I have about 35 lbs live rock and 30 lbs live sound. I currently have about 30 coral frags in my tank and have a question:

QUESTION:

I just received a frag shipment from AquaSD. I am just getting to the corals tonight I was gone today, but my mother in law put the package inside the house so it was not sitting in the heat.)

1) Do I need to leave my lights on extra tonight to help the corals I am putting in my tank? It will be 9:00 pm before I have my corals done with the dip and my lights are on a timer and normally turn off then.

2) If so, how long should I leave them on?

Thanks

Adam

Nope. Once your dip is over (and good for you for doing it!), place your corals down low in the tank, on the sand bed if possible/practical. Putting them in a QT tank is best practice, but many skip this step. Then you can slowly raise them over the course of a couple weeks to where they should be light level wise in your tank. This way they don't get shocked. If you know what lights they were under before you got them, you can be quicker, sometimes. But why risk it...

HTH,
Brian

I would leave the lights off. It'll give the corals a few hours to settle in a little before lights hit them :)
