I have 8 damsels I used to cycle my tank .. yes I know that's a bad way to do it I was just told to do it I am new... anyways to my question. I have 8 damsels and there is only 1 that is mean and picks on other damsels and my diamond goby. Should I get rid of him or all of them ? My tank is 100g btw

up to you. do you want a tank full of damsels? its unlikely that all will survive as the get older/bigger. personally, I would never put a single damsel in my tank, but thats just me.

what other inhabitants are you considering? have you researched your new additions and their care requirements? if the tank is just finished cycling, I'd progress very slowly, nothing good happens fast in this hobby.

I understand "thats what you were told", but its YOUR tank and you need to do your own research on your tank and potential inhabitants, its part of being a responsible aquarist. Additionally, I would avoid the store that gave you such terrible advice like the plague. they have already started you off on the wrong foot, so to speak.

Well that's why I am here to try to get a better foot in the door. I would like to keep only 2 of them . I'd like to see the rest go . Plan to have many other fish after my tank is stable and can handle the load. Just don't want to wait to long to get these guys out

I like damsels - sure they can be jerks - but they're colorful jerks and are fun to watch...

I think it depends on what other fish you intend to keep - and the type of damsels you have - and weather you mind being attacked when you put your hand in the tank - or you mind them hosting your corals - or digging up the sand bed and spitting substrate on everything and burying your zoas...and...and...

Well maybe you should ditch a few...

Wow! WOW! Eight! That's one aggressive tank. Really, eight?

Have you considered just picking other aggressive fish and have an aggressive tank?

Otherwise, you need to shed those damsels.

FYI, other than clowns, I don't like damsels. Pretty, but also pretty aggressive.

Cut me some slack . I did what I was told I am a new to this hoppy. And I had 10 lol 2 died hahahahah.

Nah - they're not....but they're probaly right up there with clowns in causing minor catastrophies when they bite you out of nowhere and in that instinctive flex response you knock your lights into the water...never has happened to me personally...
much...
ok... a few times...

but they're cool - you'll see - they're not as bad as lets say a cinnamon clown...he has teeth...thank god damsels don't have teeth...you can try to hit them back - but they won't get the hint -

Just don't put your hand in the tank and you'll be ok...

I'm kidding around - damsels are fine - really - well some of them...

Why dos
