Greetings. I started vodka and vinegar dosing a few months back. My NO3 is <1 ppm and my PO4 test reads zero. What is recommended? Do I stop dosing the vodka and vinegar gradually? I'd like to continue dosing and feed everything heavily. I have a lot of fish and corals. The system is around 320 gallons with a display of 240. I'm curious as to what you do. Thanks!

Hello, Allow me to start with "I'm not an expert" here . However, I used to dose biopellets in a reactor, which is pretty much the same thing. As dosing vodka & vinegar . They worked too well ! Oh it took out all the algae but my nutrients got so low it hurt my corals & created a place for a terrible bacteria to take over.
So if your sure nutrients are really getting low ,consider stopping the dosing . Your tank needs a little nutrients to thrive .

I don't use Vinegar/Vodka but I use Red Sea's NoPox, which is a very similar carbon dosing product.

I would recommend stopping/reducing the amount of dosing you are doing or adding something to help the corals get the nutrients they need in the absence of NO3 and PO4.

I personally keep my NO3 <1 and PO4 < .08 with NoPox and dose Reef Energy to provide the corals with Amino Acids/Vitamins/Carbohydrates in the lower nutrient environment. I also target feed all of my LPS and Softies (mainly shrooms) once a week with mysis soaked in Reef Energy B.

My hope was that I could overfeed the tank while still dosing. Who doesn't like to watch animals eat?

I would rather do less than more. Reduce or stop dosing. Feed the fish/coral what they need.

Just read a few threads and articles a couple days ago. You cut your does in half when you reach your desired levels.
