So, I've seen some jawbreakers that have no red/green. Researching it, it seems the red and/or green comes out with time. Is this right? Or if I buy a jawbreaker with no red, it will always have no red?

Most of them start out solid yellow, then develop red, then green. They get more color over time :)

Is $100 a good price for a solid one? Would I need to keep it in a basket like a lot of people do? I only have a 30g 3 ft tank

$100 seems to be the going price for a young one with no red. You can make that back pretty easily as soon as yours has its first baby, so IMO that’s a pretty good price. Most people keep them in a basket because mushrooms tend to detach themselves and float away. Depends on if you comfortable giving it free range or not lol

Where do people buy the little baskets. I don't see one from BRS

Here is one from Zen Reef. I have one of their frag racks, and I love it. The magnets are strong, and it is well-made. If their other products are as well-made, then I will be picking up a mushroom box for my jawbreaker after Reef-a-Palooza Chicago; I need to save some funds for whatever I may find there. :)

You can find many different variants of the shroom box and all work very well, or just have a shroom dedicated nano which is basically a big version of a shroom box

as for your color question, I’ve seen plain color shrooms go from nothing to showstopper quality, all depends on lineage and time. But for best results, get a shroom with color already. The color will only get better with time as they get more mature. Best of luck!
