I manually dose and just do it as part of my daily schedule... it's been working very well. Super easy.
The wife and I are going to be gone for a few weeks later this year and my adult daughter will be staying at the house to take care of the menagerie...tank, dogs, cats, chickens.
Looking at picking up a Jebao DP-4 to remove the need for her to handle dosing task. My concern is the reports of the Jebao staying on and overdosing. My thought is to put the pump on a timer that's turns on for 2 short intervals, each day, only when the pump will be scheduled to be actively dosing.

Timer kicks on at 0600 and off at 0630; pump is scheduled to be dosing 0610-0625.... worst case scenario if the Jebao sticks on, there would be an overdose, but not disastrous. It would run for 30 minutes max.

Does the Jebao DP-4 return to its programed schedule when it looses power? Anyone see glaring flaws in my plan?

Definitely keeps the programming. Not sure how a peristaltic pump can stick on or if that's actually worth worrying about. Mine never has. Sometimes the drive axel slips inside the pump (seems moisture/humidity related) causing it not to pump but that's the worst I can say for it. I have the DP3.

That said, going on vacation is not the time to be changing things. Can't you just show your tank sitter how to measure the doses properly and just keep up the status quo while you're out?

Also, what's the coral load like right now? How old is this tank?

I'm probably worried too much about failure, and having the entire dosing system power up/down multiple times is probably asking for problems.
I went ahead and got the DP-4 and have it running for 24 hours now. We're not going out of town until November so plenty of time to get it dialed and have confidence in its reliability .
Worse case scenario.... if it goes haywire I'll be able to see it/be alerted by my Seneye monitor. Plenty of family close that can assist to fix.

sorry to rehash an old thread but I had a question on the Jebao DP-4 also. I have the same doser for a few months now with no issues dosing. The only problem i have is that when i lose power, i lose the program as well. I've seen some threads about battery backup on the unit but I can't seem to find it on my unit. Is there actually a backup battery in the Jebao DP-4?

Yes they do, the DP-4.
When powered off, the internal battery keeps setting until power returns.
Some don’t do this, it’s defective.
