I'm thinking of introducing a small toadstool to my 4 gallon pico but am concerned that the toadstool will release allelopathic chemicals to stunt the growth of zoas and mushrooms and any other soft corals I want to introduce. I don't do frequent water changes (I rely on a back compartment in my AIO tank with chaeto for nutrient removal).

I personally run carbon in a 4’ reef with 6 leathers (I include Capnella in the leathers) and have yet to face an issue - I have 1 Acropora in the tank and it doesn’t care about the Leathers and my other Softies/LPS don’t care either.

The only thing I would be concerned about is the toadstool leather out growing the tank. They grow fairly fast and will crowd out and shade any other corals.
It may be small now,,,,,
