do leather corals generally grow algae in tanks with lots of nuscianse algae? i want to get a big finger leather or 2 for my tank and i wanna know if i need to fight my algae super agressively

As long as you can keep the leathers in strong flow it should be alright, leather corals will shed their outer layers to get rid of any nuisance algae every so often, although yes I recommend you try to get most of the algae out before buying a leather or two
