My phosphates are at 0.28 ppm right now. I seem to not be able to get them down. I have a fuge and an algae scrubber. My nitrates are at 10ppm. I dose nitrates because if I didn’t they would be zero. My phosphates seem to stay high and the only think I can equate to the change is I installed one of those shallow black plastic stock tanks to my system. It’s 6’x2’ and about 13” deep. Someone told me that plastic tanks like that can leach phosphates. Does anyone have definitive data on plastics leaching phosphates?

Are you using RODI water? Have you tried testing a fresh sample from there?

Yes I have done ICP testing on my rodi water and it’s perfect. undetectable for any elements.

I am considering GFO. The phosphates can come from the process of making the plastic.

So is this one. However the more I research the more I find that potable water grade doesn’t mean it won’t leach chemicals.

I have never heard of it leaching phospates. Polyethelene (brute stock tank) can leach endocrine disruptors but not phos. Just get some lanthiun chloride....Done.
