Hi all,

I’ve found out about push fittings for PVC online that are being used by sprinkler systems. Is this something you can use for a reef tank? I know they are more expensive but I was thinking of using a few for some of the tighter fits on my plumbing setup.

If you are talking about Shark Bites you don't see this used for PVC connections in the aquarium as most times you are not taking the pvc piping apart a lot. You see the small one on RO?di systems and reactors but not on plumping itself. As most have internal metal parts that could corrode over time.

I just read the product description, and it has a stainless steel retainer ring. So probably not a good thing to use for a reef tank.

Right it is used for irrigation only. Like I said these have metal parts inside them that is exposed to the water passing thru it.

They have metal in them. I have seen other threads on this. Metal rusts! So I didn't do it for that very reason

Not a good idea due to the metal. Also a leak wating to happen. Hard pvc plumbing, glued in place to make a leak proof seal.
