Do saltwater aquariums require specialised power strips?

specialized power strip? I say no to that. My power strip that I use has a built in Surge Suppressor. But you could get away with a standard strip with no SS.

RCD? I don't know what this is. BUT, I am not sure what you have in the UK, but I would certainly plug the power strip into a GFCI receptacle, or something similar to what you have in the UK

Nothing special. Water proof would be good.
Good idea to have a GFI circuit (RCD).

Just a GFCI for safety other than that if u don't plan on getting an aquarium controller, they now have plugs w built in timers that u can control via wifi or bluetooth. These would save a lot of space instead of vs one of those bulky old fashioned timers.

If you're not using a controller, having at least one strip with individual on-off switches for each outlet is very handy.
