I have had my yellow tang for about 3 months now...about a week ago I bought a pair of firefish...one immediately hid (thought that was normal) the second took his place swimming right in the middle of the tank...now they both hide and Idk why...until I was told that my yellow tang was harassing them...can anybody give their insight or personal experience

It's possible the tang is doing it but more likely the fire fish are doing it to each other fire fish are extremely aggressive towards each other. What size tank is it? Yellow tangs will let new additions know who is boss, especially in smaller tanks.

Well the fire fish have been together since I got em at my lfs and they hide in the same spot together...my yellow tang didn't really acknowledged them the first day I put them in...this is recently

After the firefish establish a territory they will fight, unless they are a bonded pair...I have seen a ton of people buy bonded firefish pairs that have one kill the other a few weeks later. Tangs have a tendency to fight new additions when added then leave them alone unless they are other tangs or look like tangs.

But my yellow tang leaves my clownfish alone...and I do believe the firefish have bonded

Exactly I researched the firefish and their compatibility and I got that it wouldn't be a problem

Shouldn't be a problem, its the order you added the fish. Yellow Tangs tend to be meatheads. If you have added him after your firefish you would not have had an issue.

I had a powder blue I ended up getting rid of because he was just Pisse* at everything all the time, I swear i saw the hate in his eyes. and BOY OH BOY did he HATE his reflection

I had a yellow then introduced a Scopas tang. Had to get rid of the Scopas. Yellow wasn't having it. I know hippo tang are very Terratorial.

They don't seem to have issues with other type of fish. But tangs with same body type is the problem.

Well as far as I know the bullying has stopped I have seen my firefish out and about. Which is cool cuz they stay together and my tang seems to be leaving them alone

You were *told* that the yellow tang is harassing them or have you seen it yourself? I have a firefish in a bio cube all by him self and he still always hides, so it may be normal.

I kinda like the hiding because they fit in any small cave...but thanks for for the input
