The first is a blue flasher wrasse and the second is a linespot flasher wrasse.

The reason I ask is because:

(1) their coloration is significantly different than what I have seen before, but i'm not experienced enough to know whether that difference is within the normal variation for these species, and
(2) I have recently purchased 3 linespot flasher wrasses from DD over the course of the last month and all 3 went downhill fast while other fish have made it through QT just fine. To be fair, one did get bit by another fish in QT, but it wasn't that bad and he died even after I separated him from the offending fish. No obvious disease indicators otherwise (and yes I checked for flukes).

Before I pull the trigger on another linespot flasher wrasse I just wanted to make sure I have a reasonable chance of success. If you guys think these photos might indicate disease I think I might give them a few months to sort things out. I know there are numerous "invisible" killers I would have no way to detect (dubious collection methods, unusually rough shipping to my location, etc.), and i'm certainly not trying to pile onto LA, they have been nothing but outstanding in their CS, but I just don't want to overlook something obvious and set myself up for another failure.

In particular if you have an opinion @evolved I would certainly appreciate it. I certainly will appreciate thoughts from anyone who has seen a reasonable volume of these wrasses.

The Blue Flasher has a little chunk of tail missing and looks splotchy is some areas; the Linespot looks perfect IMO.

@eatbreakfast would know better than I though about wrasses.
