I am looking for a union type fitting or quick disconnect fitting for 1" flex hose. Has anyone seen anything like that or have any recommendations? I tried google and didn't come up with much.
Do they make a quick disconnect or union for flex hose?

Just use a union for pvc. Cut to short pieces of pvc pipe and glue them into the pvc union. Then slide your hose over the ends.

The only other thing I have seen is what Ehiem makes for their hoses which is similar to what I just described.

I might have to go this route but was seeing if there was a all in one fitting out there. I googled the ehiem fittings but they don't go up to 1" hose. Thanks for the help.

That's probably what I will end up doing but I was just seeing if they made a union for flex with the barbs already on it.

My understanding is that flex PVC is... well, still PVC so you can use a slip union and just glue it in. I think that may be what Kevan did on his 185g. I don't think you need to do anything special. Its still PVC.

Tagging along. Been looking for and wondering the same thing, for my skimmate overflow. They make a small single twist disconnect for small bore airline tubing, I know. Even a magnetic disconnect may be useful... (Searched US Plastics and McMaster Carr, no luck.)

I tried that last night and if the tubing would have fit tighter in the fitting it probably would have worked. It held but not like I want.

I ended up just using a 1" male and female barbed fitting. I can turn one end of my hose so I can just unscrew them when I want to take it out. Much cheaper and smaller than using a threaded union and then threaded male barbed fittings.
