Do U/V Sterilizers Remove beneficial bacteria/organisms as well?

I’ve searched and see most discussion on U/V sterilizers about removing unwanted organisms. What about the good and/or beneficial organisms? Just wondering.....

Yes. UV isn't very selective about what it kills. Most of the beneficial stuff lives on or in the hard surfaces in your system anyway.

No. Good bacteria live on rocks and sand. Pods and stuff are too big to be damaged given the short exposure time. At least that's what I've read.
