Do vermetid snails move around like a normal snail?

Was wondering how these guys find their places on rocks, do they like to move around and then find a spot they like then spiral up? Or do they just randomly sprout out of a rock?

And how does a mother colony form? Does a regular skinny one mutate into a fat one?

I can't say that I have ever seen one move around, they seem to just pop up in random areas. They must move around somehow, hopefully someone else can answer how they move.

I'm kind of curious if anyone actually has photos of the moving vermetid snail and if it a walking tube or something else.

Would it be possible that the mobile ones look like limpets with a stick?
