We had one tang that got covered in brown little specs after we got some coral frags we didn’t FW dip (didn’t know we had to). He died a quick death and was covered with these little specs. We had a Cardinal that soon after died but had no symptoms prior (no spots nothing) as well as a few clowns. That were in the DT only a few days. We then found out our salinity, Calcium and alkalinity were all low. Don’t know if that played a part or not. We moved our survivors, a large yellow tang and yellow watchmen goby to a QT. But we’ve had 4 Damsels in the sump for over a month before this even started and they are still there now (they’re mean, especially the domino and we don’t know what to do with them yet) and they have shown NO signs ever of velvet, ich or any illness at all. They’re still in there now, eat fine and no signs of spots or any issues. If we had velvet in the tank and the little things swimming around looking for a host wouldn’t they eventually find them in the sump? What should we do? The other fish have been in QT since Dec 1st. Do we continue to leave them there or so you think the tank is okay? Obviously our coral, anemone and inverts are doing great and cope pods multiplying like crazy. We have a 180g tank. All parameters are perfect. WWYD?

I think you posted some extra photos by mistake @TrishK

Your tank will have velvet until the damsels are removed and it is left fallow without any fish. Even if they don't show symptoms they can be hosts.

You could put them in a QT and treat with appropriate medications seperate from your other fish. I would not return them to the LFS (just in case you were considering) unless they are appropriately treated first as it would be a shame to expose their fish.

Yes I saw the extra photos right away and deleted them so I hope they don’t still show up lol....didn’t know the damsels could be a carrier and not show signs, will get them out ASAP! Thanks
