Do you allow "reef strangers" in your house?

Let's just call those people who are in the hobby who you really don't know, "reef strangers."

Do you allow them over to your house?

Sure. With an XD40 on my hip and an AR15 in the corner propped up by the tank, I have no worries.

Definately not there has to be some type of rapore (sp?) before I allow anyone in my house.

I do all the time, I had kids just last week came up to the door and wanted to see the fish tank. You can see it from the street and the whole neighborhood glows blue. But I am a pretty scary looking person and my pitbull is a little psycho when people come to the door

Not anymore. I have a 3 and a 4 year old and I don't think its apropriate for my family to have strangers coming by to see the tank or buy frags. If I have met them before, and I think they are good people, I let them over, but not strangers. As others said, I have a L.T.C. and a few guns and can take care of myself but its what can happen when people come back when your not home that worries me. Just because someone owns a reef tank doesn't mean they are absolutely trustworthy in my book.

I've had a few people come to check out my room. It's in the back of the house, they never go through the front door or any other part of my house. Cable guys love my room haha.

I have no corals to sell and would love to see others tanks but unless I am invited in I don't even ask. With the way the world is now a days you just never know people. If I'm not invited in I know it isn't personal. I grew up and our door was never locked and rarely shut and the house I grew up in got that same door kicked in a year after a sub division got built across the street by a man that had been in there a few time and was really nice guy. He lost his job and needed money so he thought no one was home. My 60 year old grandmother was and she scared him of so I don't take it personal. I have seen one persons tank and he doesn't look like someone you want to be in a dark alley with. So DOWTISH you have nothing to worry about. Lol

Yep! We let people come in from the clubs that are buying stuff or want to see the tank. I would never let a random stranger in though. Even when we have new people over from the reef club, our guns aren't far from reach.

Yea same here just people from the forums and i have to talk to them before they come to my house they usually come over for coral swap, and again i dont have any kids so its ok for my part but i think if i had some it would be totally a different story. lol

I use to but after hearing stories from others, I have stopped. I've been called many names cause I stopped but I don't care. Customers or people just have to understand that its not like before. There's are weirdos out there. Unless I know the person and only if they have a good rep than maybe. hahaha I like the xd40 comment. But I'll have it in my hand not the holster
