Do you buy more stuff than you will ever need?

Likewise... hoarder when it comes to testing supplies, salt, medications, and back up equipment.
I have 2 backups of all reagents, 4 months of salt (minimum), and enough meds to treat all my fish regardless of the disease, and a back up of all probes, pumps, and powerheads.
Oh, and I also hoard Legos, but that's another issue altogether!

I'd love to hear what your stock list of meds are!

You're funny!! LOL When have reefers ever purchased only what they need as well as get rid of the stuff they don't. I don't think I ever did that with my freshwater stuff. LOL.

My fish own stock in many aquarium equipment companies and force me to buy stuff I will never need.

I am three years new in this hobby and after the first two years I upgraded to a new tank twice the size of my first tank. I got rid of everything I can't use on the new tank and only buy what I need for the present and buy again when I am about to run low. I do keep a new back up of each pump and heaters; enough salt for about three months at a time.

When I had my first tank, I bought a lot of horrible equipment which wound up cluttering my spare bedroom but that was in the 80s and 90s when I didn't know as much.
Now I buy what I need only after a ton of research and questions on the web and I can say that I don't have anything resembling the clutter I once had.

Why the consternation? This is smart. ...and good for your corals and fish. I will always buy extras and more of the things that are core to my personal method. Real live rock from tear downs, tunze pumps, askoll block pumps, good halide stuff, reactor media, bags of good sand (found some southdown lately), life reef skimmers, calcium reactors. At ten cents on the dollar and not much room to store, it is good to have backups on hand. I try and avoid buying anything techy since five new versions could be out before I get around to using them. I have a drawer of fittings and stuff too.

I do not have much junk anymore which was hard at first and then I felt so much better when I got rid of it all. I got rid of all of my empty tanks too.

Decided that if you have an extra LifeReef skimmer, then that is ok. However, if you have an extra SeaClone skimmer, then you might have a problem.

I stock backups for everything I run. It comes in handy when something goes down. I just replace it.
Yes I have alot of equipment that I dont run.
Just gave a 6 bulb ATI to lfs for food credit. It was well worn but could get someone started without a large cash investment.
Also gave a 2 bulb unit that the lfs uses on a display tank.
I bought 100lbs carx media awhile ago and glad I did.
I buy 2 buckets of IO purple at a time. Just finished off 1 and will buy 2 more.

I have alot of extra equipment and am trying to sell a BM filter roller, Giesemanm 6 bulb T5 to make some room for more equient, lol.

I have many MH systems with ballasts and bulbs.

I only part with things I dont plan on useing anymore.

I forgot this. I also buy real live rock, dead or alive and keep it in my frag systems sump. This allowed me to set up a used nano I got for next to nothing with all live rock from my 3 different system.
