Do you clean your cup?

Curious to see what others do and if feel any benefits from either or...but do you clean your skimmer cup and wipe it out everytime you dump it or do you just dump out and put back on skimmer with walls dirty???

I don't wipe it but I spray it with hot water to get the worst of the scum off.

Always clean it, and it always responds by collecting more skimmate for the first day or two. (At least, it seems that way . . . )

I also rinse mine out and wipe down then return cup to skimmer personally

See im wondering if not cleaning it as much it skims more being that doesnt have rebuild all skum up on walls...then again this could make no sense and it skim better because walls are clean and if didnt clean would eventually not be able to skim...but hey thats why im askin everyone opinions and experiences

I usually don't even remove it, I'll take a algae scrubber (brillo pad type) to the inside walls and siphon the cup out to a bucket

Is your cup hard to remove? ?

Not really, it's a reef dynamics ins180, but my sink is upstairs..basement sump. Hopefully I'll have a sink down there this year

I just rinse mine out under hard running hot water each time I dump it.. When it starts getting excessive build up I scrub it out. Mine always seem to work better after cleaning, hard rinse or total cleaning

After i clean it, it doesnt start skimming how i want it untill the next day

I had the vertex swobbie witch was awesome i acually highly recommend any protien skimmer neck cleaner. Trust me i would clean my cup every other day if i couldbut every time i empty the cup my house smells like a rotten foot for an hour and have to deal with my gf dramatic response

I empty and clean the cup once a week.I rinse and wipe out the cup but I don't scrub it. I want that thin film under the gunk to be pretty much still there. I am usually getting a good head of foam within an hour or 2 of cleaning and normal production within 8 hours of cleaning.
